How Long Does Installation Take?
How long does the dog fence installation take? How long will it take me to put in the dog fence?
Budget a full day for installing a dog fence for a typical installation (about an acre). The part that takes the longest time is burying the wire. You can dramatically cut down on the installation time if you use a trencher to bury the dog fence wire. Trenchers dig the trench, bury the wire, and then backfill the trench. A trencher can be rented at most tool rental places (they are typically used to install outdoor sprinkler systems and outdoor lighting systems) and will cost you about $50. With a trencher, your installation time will easily be halved.
Another good way to do the installation is to just staple the dog fence wire to the ground as a temporary measure. Every time you get a few spare moments, bury a little section of the wire and you will be done before you know it (or you will experience the great joys of procrastination, be nagged by your partner, and be condescended by neighbors).
