Step 1: Selecting a Dog Fence System

Step 2: Installing the Dog Fence

Now, time for the dog fence installation. Start by planning the layout of your system. Learn about how twisted wire is used to cause non-correction parts of the installation. Once it comes time for the actual installation, there are a variety of methods. Some people will no bury the wire at all, stapling it to the ground or a convenient fence. Burial can be made much faster and easier by renting a wire laying trencher or using your garden edger. If you need to get across a driveway, we can make that painless too. Then hook up you system and start training.

Step 3: Training Your Dog

Finally, the most important part of any containment system is training your dog to obey the boundaries, a process that takes twenty minutes per day for two weeks. We start with a first week of dog fence training by introducing the dog to the system, and show them what we want them to do whenever they hear the warning beep. In the second week we introduce the correction to teach the dog there is a consequence for breaking the boundary rules. Since the dog already knows what they need to do to turn off the boundary, the use of the correction is minimal. Next, we test the dog’s compliance by using your dog’s biggest temptations to make sure they observe the boundary even when excited. Finally, we introduce the dog to off-leash time in the boundary.
